Stonefold is a small editorial index. It exists to describe a short list of hotels accurately, and to stop there.

What this is

Four categories, 11 hotels, written up as prose. Art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels — groupings chosen because each one describes a real structural difference in how a building works, not a mood or a price bracket.

Entries are written to be read once and remembered. They cover the setting, the building, the format of the rooms and whatever else genuinely distinguishes the property. Where a category has only one honest candidate, it holds one entry.

What this is not

There is no booking engine here and no affiliate link behind any hotel name. Nobody pays to be listed, and no hotel has been given a chance to approve or amend what is written about it.

You will not find star ratings, scores out of ten or guest reviews. Those numbers compress too much into too little, and we would rather spend the space on sentences.

Sources and accuracy

Descriptions are built from public information about each property and are kept general on purpose — the things that change least. Facilities, seasons and ownership all move around. Confirm details with the hotel before you commit to anything.

Geography

The index is not written from any one country's point of view. Properties appear across the Caribbean, East Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and North America, and no market is treated as the default.
